At Largs Bay School the Student Voice Committee (SVC) are a group of students elected by their peers to represent all students within our school. The SVC gives all students from F-6 a voice and provides opportunities to share ideas, tackle challenges and create change. Student agency is about empowering students to be active agents in their own learning and be part of the decision-making process.
The Student Voice Committee at Largs Bay School is a small committee of Year 6 students that have applied for and successfully won a position. Students are encouraged to write an application letter, including a referee statement, for the roles of:
- Chairperson
- Deputy Chairperson
- Secretary
Once all applications have been received the school leadership team as well as Year 6 teachers form a panel and appoint the successful students to the role. The Student Voice Executive speak regularly at assemblies, run regular SVC meetings, help coordinate fundraisers, work with the school leadership and host the ‘End of Year Event’.
