School Sports and Carnivals

Students are offered many sporting opportunities throughout the school year, where they represent the school in competitions against other schools. These events are primarily for year 4,5 and 6 students. Teams are entered in School Sport SA, SAPSASA and State Sporting Body events.

Nominations are called for and trials conducted during school time. These opportunities are often communicated by our Sports Coordinator Mr Ian Burge via the Skoolbag App. Out of school hours training also happens for certain events.
We regularly enter school teams in Port SAPSASA swimming, athletics and cross country championships. We enter teams in School Sport SA statewide schools competitions in football, soccer, basketball and netball. We also regularly attend volleyball, AFLW Crows Cup and NRL rugby competitions.

Students are also encouraged to try out for Port SAPSASA district representative teams in various sports. We have also been very consistent in having students gain state team selection in a variety of sports. In 2022 we had six students selected in ten state teams to compete nationally.

At Largs Bay School, we support our student’s involvement in sporting opportunities by making a significant financial contribution towards sport. Unfortunately, it is not viable or sustainable for the school to cover all costs involved. Therefore, a co-payment is often required for all off-site sporting events in which your child is representing Largs Bay School. Please note, if your child is selected in a district or state team, additional costs may apply.
